TARGET RIFLE
The target rifle discipline is a long-standing, long-range shooting sport that utilizes traditional open sights. Sanctioned by the National Rifle Association of Australia (NRAA), it is also known as full-bore shooting.
The NRAA governs target rifle shooting, a precision event that dates back to the late 1800s. Competitors use single-shot rifles chambered in 7.62mm NATO (.308 Winchester) or 5.56mm (.223 Remington) with peep sights. The rules for target rifle shooting impose restrictions on the weight, ammunition, sights, and other equipment used.
Divisions
The target rifle discipline has three divisions: A, B, and C. Grade divisions and, in some cases, handicaps are applied to ensure fair competition for all participants.
